Artificial intelligence may be the wave of the future when it comes to receiving auto insurance quotes. How simple does taking a photo of your license plate and texting it for an insurance quote sound? This is a service being provided by virtual insurance Agent, Insurify. You may not have heard of Insurify yet. It is a relatively new player in the game having begun its operations as a MIT start-up tech company based in Cambridge, MA.

Insurify raised $2 million in capital for its license plate quote feature from Rationalwave Capital Partners.

The company was launched January 28, 2016. Its virtual insurance agent, Evia, is patent-pending. Insurify’s CEO and co-founder is Snejina Zacharia, who is a former Director of Business Development at Gartner and an MIT Sloan Fellow. Insurify offers insurance products and services through ClearLink Insurance Agency, LLC (UT-436588) which is licensed to operate in all 50 states.

How it Works

To use the license plate quote feature from Insurify, you simply take a photo of your license plate and text it to the number provided by the Insurify website. Incredibly, this is all that is required to start the process of generating auto insurance quotes. If you don’t have a license plate to text, you can also obtain a quote by entering other information such as the specific make and model of the vehicle.

Once you have texted the photo of your license plate to the phone number provided, a virtual insurance agent will ask you additional questions to obtain the information required to provide an insurance quote. You will receive contact numbers to purchase the policy. This license plate quote option is known as Evia, which is short for Expert Virtual Insurance Agent.

Evia actually scours the Internet to gather personal data and driving record information needed for the typical insurance application, saving you time in not having to complete long insurance forms to obtain a quote.

Evia is currently in Beta but customers can sign up and request an invite to use the application. While Evia is free to use, local data and messaging fees may apply through your service provider. Insurify encrypts your information through the latest SSL technology to keep your personal information safe. To use the service, you’ll need to give permission for the partner companies of Insurify to contact you by phone, email or mail regarding your auto insurance quote. Insurify will only connect you with an agent if you explicitly choose this option.

On the Insurify website, the company mission is stated, along with the members of the team. More about the Software Insurify Uses

Insurify invented its own software called RateRank, two years in the making, which analyzes user risk profile and patterns, matching drivers to the best fit and most affordable auto insurance options.

It’s not all about the price either. Other factors included in analysis of the best auto insurance options are insurance company reviews, discounts available, customer benefits and a company’s customer service record. When receiving your auto insurance quotes, you are provided the best matches based on the analysis of the RateRank software.

Security of Your Personal Information

Initially, some may have reservations about privacy and how secure their information is through Insurify’s Evia application. So, you may wonder what would happen if someone took a picture of your license plate and tried to obtain a quote. Insurify states that in such a case, the customer would receive a quote for that particular vehicle without receiving information about who owns the vehicle. The site also uses SSL technology to encrypt your personal information.

Evia verifies your identity by the answers you provide to questions such as whether or not your car is owned or leased. If questions comes up that Evia can’t answer, it can connect you to a live person for further assistance.

If you still are unsure about using Evia, you can always get a quote from the web version of Insurify by entering your vehicle’s information and most other information you would normally enter online to receive an insurance quote. While Evia may not be for everyone, he does offer you more options.

The Evia application through Insurify is currently available in 30 states (Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District Of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming) although there are plans for expansion. Insurify partners with some of the largest U.S. insurance agencies and carriers and offers auto insurance quotes from more than 82 carriers in real-time.  Insurify is currently in negotiation with some large call-center operations to continue to expand its distribution network.

What Do People Who Have Used Evia Have to Say?

If you are interested in what people who have actually used the Evia application form Insurify have to say about it, you may have to wait until more people have used and reviewed the application and posted their experiences online. Through my search, reviews of the Evia were practically non-existent or very hard to find at the least.  Perhaps when the product comes out of Beta, you will be able to obtain more information about the customer satisfaction experience when using the Evia application.

The only reviews I was able to find where not really reviews at all but more like questions asking, “Is this really going to work?” I guess time will tell us about that and how successful Insurify will be with its innovative new auto insurance application.
