Vanessa Chase, The Storytelling Non-Profit

Vanessa Chase is a nonprofit consultant, trainer, speaker, and blogger. As a Millennial fundraiser, Vanessa is part of a new generation of fundraisers who are bringing change to the sector with new techniques tools.

In 2012, Vanessa created The Storytelling Non-Profit to help non-profit organizations share their impact with donors in a way that inspires philanthropic giving.

By using stories organizations can increase engagement and accountability with donors to increase their fundraising results. Today, The Storytelling Non-Profit reaches more than 15,000 non-profit professionals each month through a weekly newsletter and blog posts, as well as an annual virtual conference attended by over 2,000 fundraisers.

Vanessa started her fundraising career at The University of British Columbia and then worked at Union Gospel Mission where she managed monthly giving and mid-level donors. Through her consulting work she has worked with: Education Media Foundation, A Rocha Canada, Kokua Services, SHARE, Children International, Hope For The Nations, Cancer Care Connection, BC Children’s Hospital, AWANA Canada, and Pearson College.

As a speaker and trainer to non-profits, Vanessa worked with numerous events and associations including: UBC Impact Labs and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education; Association of Donor Relations Professionals; The Nonprofit Storytelling Conference; Progressive Executive Education; Meals On Wheels, Land Trust Alliance Rally, Girl Scouts National Fund Development Conference and Blackbaud Conference for Non-Profits.

In addition to being President of The Storytelling Non-Profit, Vanessa is Co-Founder of Stewardship School (an online course that teaches non-profits how to create donor-centered stewardship plans), and Chair of the Board at Women Against Violence Against Women - a rape crisis center in Vancouver, BC that she’s volunteered with since 2011.

Although she stays busy with work, Vanessa enjoys reading, running, practicing calligraphy, and cooking.
