Travelers can offer all that and more. It has been in business for over 165 years and provides people with coverage for a broad range of insurance products.

As the second largest property and casualty insurer in the U.S., Travelers Insurance was first founded in to insure people who were using trains and steamboats to travel around the country. This mode of travel was thought to be high risk at the time, and many insurers would not insure those who chose to travel this way.

Since its founding in 1864, the firm has grown to offer personal and business plans both in the U.S. and abroad. In fact, it stopped selling travel plans in 1993. Travelers is an insurance leader with such innovations as the first auto policy, writing space travel policies, and giving a hybrid car discount.

Travelers is traded on the NYSE under the symbol TRV. It has over 30,000 employees and 13,500 agents with operations in the U.S., Canada, U.K, and Ireland. Its headquarters is in New York City with other offices in St. Paul, Minnesota and Hartford, Connecticut. The famous umbrella logo was first introduced in 1870 and has remained as the logo through all the changes and mergers.
