Rob has written hundreds of articles in his time as a news reporter for The Balance, staying on top of the latest developments on the labor market, inflation, student loan forgiveness, and personal finance. He spends much of his time combing through spreadsheets, digging out the details and data to bring context and clarity to readers.

Rob draws from his academic background—having graduated from Syracuse University with a dual degree in newspaper journalism and economics—as well as more than 14 years of experience as a community reporter and editor. He began his career at Community News Service in Lawrence, New Jersey, rising through the ranks from staff writer to managing editor of nine community newspapers in Central New Jersey. His writing has been honored by the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists, the Keystone Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Association of Free Community Papers. Rob was a 2019 fellow at the Metcalf Institute for Marine and Environmental Reporting, based at the University of Rhode Island.

He joined The Balance in January 2021 and lives in New Jersey.
