Rachel Morgan Cautero

Rachel has spent more than a decade in journalism, during which time she's covered personal finance and other topics for publications including LearnVest, Forbes, and The New York Daily News. She was formerly the Managing Editor of DailyWorth, a female-focused personal finance site, where she covered everything from money-saving strategies for new parents to fintech's best spending trackers.

Rachel writes for The Balance's Getting Started With Money section, where she covers topics of interest to young people navigating money issues for the first time. 

Experience

Rachel has served as Managing Editor and Social Media Manager for several publications, most recently at DailyWorth, a finance publication for women. Prior to that, she was the News and Content Editor at FlockU, a media startup geared toward a college readership. 

Along with her financial writing for The Balance, she is a regular finance contributor to LearnVest and Northwestern Mutual's Life & Money. She has also worked in the newspaper and magazine industries, writing on everything from nuclear energy to lifestyle topics.

Rachel has also been published in The New York Observer, The Local: East Village (a New York Times publication), Technical.ly Philly, US Weekly, South Jersey Magazine, SJ Biz, House & Home, Observer Home, Philadelphia Family magazine, Shalereporter.com, The New York Daily News, Haute Living Magazine, and FlockU.com. Education

Rachel holds an M.A. from the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at NYU, and a B.A. in English with a minor in Journalism from Wittenberg University.
