Oak Creek Factory Outlets Has Become Sedona Vista Village
New owners give the mall a facelift
New owners purchased the Oak Creek Factory Outlets in Sedona, Arizona, in 2017 and renamed the mall Sedona Vista Village. While attractively designed, the mall boasts only four stores as of early 2018 in addition to a theater/restaurant. A hotel and additional restaurants are planned.
Prior to the recession in 2007, the center was a popular stop for people traveling from Phoenix. The outlet was home to several popular designer brand outlets, but financial setbacks slowly led to one store after another shuttering their doors.
By 2013, the outlet was 35 percent vacant.
In an effort to revitalize the center, local business owners began filling the vacancies. The center became a mixture of outlet stores along with privately owned antique stores, bookstores, and consignment shops. Shoppers also enjoyed outdoor events such as arts and crafts shows, live music, a farmers market, and live theater productions.
Unfortunately, the revitalization efforts were not as financially successful as some had hoped. Almost all of the independently owned shops closed or relocated, as well as some of the national outlet stores.
Another blow to the center came in May 2013, when the Canyon Moon Theater, a community theater troupe, closed after the artistic director decided to step down. The theater had been at the mall since 2006.

One of the more popular attractions in the area is hiking, with more than 150 trails in the area. So, visitors looking for more than shopping and dining should have plenty to do. Also in the area are multiple golf courses and art galleries.
Two different companies offer hot-air balloon rides over Red Rock State Park, which is an uncommon way to get in some sightseeing before heading to the mall to shop. Among the art galleries in the area, the Sedona Arts Center offers an excellent opportunity to connect with the local community and view the work of local artists.
