What You Need to Know About Navy Enlisted Ratings

Basic Information and Skill Requirements for Navy Jobs

The Navy calls their enlisted jobs "ratings." Similar ratings are placed into various "communities." For example, ratings that are administrative in nature, are placed in the Administration Community. Ratings that deal with aircraft are placed in the Aviation Community. The Navy Ratings are what other services call Military Occupational Specialties (MOS).

In each community, you will find links to the Navy job descriptions and qualification factors associated with that rating.

Administration Community - Click on each rating designator in each community to read a basic job description, as well as basic qualification criteria established to obtain the particular rating.
