Michael has been the Government Careers Guide on About.com since 2011. As the son of a city manager and substitute teacher, childhood dinner table conversations often touched on city council elections, bond packages, property tax rates and the like. A career in the public sector was a natural fit. After covering the local independent school district and community college for small town newspapers during college summers, Michael embarked on a career in state government. He has experience in management, accounting, training, legislative analysis, policy writing and project management.
Michael is the author of Applying the Andragogical Model of Adult Learning: A Case Study of the Texas Comptroller's Fiscal Management Division.
Michael holds a bachelor of business administration from Baylor University and a master of public administration from Texas State University-San Marcos.
