The past few months, check that, the past few years have been very active for new ETF and ETN launches. Month after month I see more and more ETFs and ETNs brought to market and more innovative funds and notes as well. However, while we did see a quite a few new ETFs launched in January 2015, which is a good start to the year, I felt like this was a very active month for new filings as well.

So in case you missed any of the action, I have compiled a list of these new proposed exchange traded products.

We have the usual suspects like iShares, Direxion and Power Shares, but we also have some new players as well. So to make things a little more organized, I've categorized these proposed funds by ETF provider and then sorted them alphabetically. Only one fund has yet to announce a ticker (PUTX), but the rest are listed by the proposed name...

When any of these new funds launch, I'll be sure to let you know, so check back to this site often.

And as more funds are filed in February and beyond, I'll be sure to let you know about those as well.

Just be sure to research these funds before or when they go live as all ETFs (and other investments) have risks. So be sure to understand how any ETF or ETN will impact your portfolio. However, once you've completed your due diligence, then good luck with all of your trades.

Update: Now that we have data for ETFs and ETNs that were filed in January of 2016, we can see that January of 2015 was actually the better month for filings with 48, where as we had 35 in January of 2016. Still two strong months, but it's on par with what we saw in all of 2015 and what we are seeing so far in 2016. All in all, 2015 was a record year for new filings and launches and 2016 is not on pace to beat those numbers.

Although it will be close.
