Letter Example Updating a Colleague About an Illness

Subject: Update

Dear Katrina,

Please express my gratitude to everyone at the office for the lovely flowers. They are a cheerful reminder of the terrific group we work with!

I really appreciate everyone's support and positive energy.

I wanted to let you know that I got the results of the biopsy on the tumor they removed on Tuesday. Unfortunately they found malignant cells, and believe that chemotherapy is indicated. I will be beginning treatments next week. I am hoping to continue to work close to full time through treatment, as long as I am feeling strong enough. I will be scheduling a meeting with Linda to discuss working from home a couple of days while I see how I'm going to respond.

I'm feeling very positive that I can handle this. I have great trust in my team of physicians, and they are all quite confident that I will respond well to treatment. My family is very strong, and ready to help in any way they can.

Thank you for keeping everyone at work updated. It means a lot to me that I have you as a liaison to the rest of the team.

Regards,

Janet
