Website Overview

Insure.com recently celebrated its 25th anniversary as one of the top insurance resources in the insurance industry. The company lists on its website under its logo, the words "the #1 resource for insurance." Is this really true? Let's take a look at the website and see what it really has to offer its users. Insure.com does not sell insurance and claims that it does not promote insurance companies.

However, on the company's about us page, insurers and agents are invited to advertise on the site. The website offers comprehensive information on insurance topics and gives guidance to help consumers find the best insurance policy. Insure.com is owned by QuinStreet, Inc., one of the largest Internet media services in the world. Insure.com was originally organized in1984 and was known as Quotesmith Corporation. Quinstreet, Inc was founded in 1999 by Doug Valenti and is headquartered in Foster City, CA. The company employs approximately 450 nationwide with over $300 million in annual revenues.

One thing that Insure.com does well is its customer surveys. The company conducts surveys of customers nationwide in the areas of customer service, claims satisfaction, price value and the percentage of customers who plan to renew their coverage. The results of these surveys are used within the insurance industry to list the top-performing insurance companies.

The company gives a People's Choice Award for the winners. This is an important tool for consumers to find the best insurance company for their needs.

Company Ratings

Insure.com is a “A+” rated Better Business Bureau accredited business. In addition to its BBB accreditation, the company was also listed by MSN Money in the top 102 best money websites.

The company also received recommendations from SmartMoney and Barron's. Kiplinger's Personal Finance named Insure.com as a “best list” website for three years consecutively. With such high customer satisfaction ratings, you can rely on the website for accurate and helpful information.

How it Works

On the website, you can compare insurance quotes from different companies for life insurance, auto insurance, health insurance, homeowners insurance and several other types of insurance. There is also an option for those who speak Spanish. You start by selecting the type of insurance you need from a drop-down menu and entering your zip code. You are then given a list of websites to obtain a quote in your area. When I entered my information for an auto insurance quote, it came back with a choice of eight websites to visit. All the companies listed appeared to be top-rated auto insurance companies.

The website has an “ask the insurance expert” feature where you can type in your question and have it answered by an insurance professional. There is a list of previous questions and answers for your information. Questions and answers listed include topics on life insurance, auto insurance, health insurance and homeowners insurance.

I found this feature to be very informative. The site also has a library of insurance articles to help consumers make informed purchasing decisions.

The Bottom Line

Insure.com is comparable to other websites such as InsureMe and NetQuote. The website offers much helpful information to consumers including its customer surveys of the best insurance companies. I recommend the site as a good place to shop for and compare insurance coverage. To compare quotes for insurance, you can visit the Insure.com website. There is no phone number listed, but you can send your questions by email to contact@insure.com.
