Patrick Air Force Base is a United States Air Force Base located between Satellite Beach and Cocoa Beach, in Brevard County, Florida.  Patrick AFB is an Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) base, Patrick AFB is home to the 45th Space Wing. The 45th Space Wing manages all launches of unmanned rockets at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS). These rockets include satellites for the US Military, the National Reconnaissance Office, and the National Security Agency, as well as scientific payload launches in support of NASA, weather satellite launches in support of NOAA, payloads in support of international customers such as the European Space Agency, and commercial payloads for various corporate communications entities.

The mission of Patrick Air Force Base is to provide combat capabilities through Eastern Range, launch, and expeditionary operations.

Patrick AFB is located on the East Coast of Central Florida, 3 miles South of Cocoa Beach and approximately 12 miles north of Melbourne, in Brevard County.

Patrick AFB is home to the 45th Space Wing, whose Officers and Airmen manage all launches of unmanned rockets at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS). The Major Tenant Organizations at Patrick are DEOMIAFOSI, U.S. State Department Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement. and many others.

Patrick AFB serves Air Force, Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, active and reserve personnel,DoD civilians, retirees and their eligible family members. More than 16,000 military / family population is on board at Patrick AFB - to include contractors and private businesses.

Temporary Lodging

Space Coast Inn Lodging is located in Building 720.  Temp Lodging Facilities includes one, two and three bedroom family units, Visiting Officer Quarters, Visiting Airmen Quarters and DV Quarters (General/Flag Officers/Civ Equivalents).

All units have fridges, microwaves, free upgraded WiFi, cable TV, DVD players, coffee makers, and free self-serve laundry facilities on site. In addition, guests may use the Riverside Dining Facility; open 7 days a week from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm including holidays. Open to all DOD ID Card Holders.

FAMCAMP overnight campground created to accommodate overnight camping and is located on the shores of the Banana River. 55 campsites available equipped with electrical and water hookups. There are also laundry, toilet and shower facilities. The campground is available to active duty, reservists and retired military all year round. 


Hunt Communities is the property management company in charge of leasing the housing at Patrick AFB. There are 3 housing areas at Patrick AFB. Pelican Coast, which is approximately 1.5 mile south of the Base in Satellite Beach, FL. The homes in Pelican Coast are designated rank specific for E-5 and above accompanied/Assigned to Patrick AFB/Cape Canaveral. On base, there are 2, 3, and 4 bedroom townhomes for rent located in North and Central Housing. These homes are available to any rank as well as Unaccompanied, Reservist, National Guard, Retired military & DOD.

Child Care

Patrick AFB has a Child Development Center and a multi-million dollar Youth Center which has before and after school programs (School Age Child Care). Summer Camp programs are also available. 

Fees and charges are based on total family income and are adjusted annually in accordance with the Military Child Care Act of 1989/1996. The CDC participates in the USDA Food Program and children are served a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day. Hourly child care is available on a space available basis. 

The VPK Program at the Child Development Center is designed to provide a strong, early learning foundation to all 4-year-olds. The program ensures that youth entering kindergarten will be fully prepared to succeed. Classes run Mon-Fri from 9am to noon.

Family Child Care is located in Bldg 1391 and can be reached at 321-494-8381.

The School Age Program offers individual classrooms with different activities in each room to include: a homework assistance program, arts & crafts, fitness activities and skill building activities.


There are no schools on Patrick Air Force Base. Children living in Patrick AFB Housing areas will attend the following schools:

Elementary Schools:

Privatized Housing (north side of Privatized Housing): Sea Park Elementary School

Privatized Housing (south of Privatized Housing): Holland Elementary School

North and Central Housing: Roosevelt School Elementary(Busing Required)

Junior High Schools

Privatized Housing: DeLaura Junior High School

Central and North Housing: Students in 7th grade will attend Cocoa Beach High School

Most of the private schools listed also have day care services or preschool classes for children younger than five. Many have before and after-school childcare programs.

Medical Care

The 45th Medical Group Clinic offers basic services in Family Practice, Flight Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Physical Therapy and Orthopedics. 45th Medical Operations Squadron focuses on prevention to ensure a medically deployable and spacelift-capable force They also provide space available care for more than 35,000 nonactive duty beneficiaries. They maintain a staff of 140 personnel who always maintain a peak readiness to support wartime contingencies and military operations other than war.
