Infinity Car Insurance Coverage
Infinity’s website doesn’t have many details about its auto coverage. We spoke with customer service by phone, and the representative explained that Infinity has all the basic, standard car insurance option you’d expect from your insurer, including:
- Liability (bodily injury and physical damage you cause to others, required in most states)
- Personal injury protection
- Collision
- Comprehensive or “other-than-collision”
- Medical payments
- Uninsured and underinsured motorist
Optional coverages may vary by location, and could include:
- Rental car reimbursement
- Roadside assistance
- Custom parts and equipment
- Non-owner insurance
Infinity offers fewer endorsements than many other insurers; it doesn’t offer common optional coverages like ridesharing or loan/lease payoff coverage (gap coverage).
Factors That Affect Your Cost
Insurers offer unique rates depending upon individual factors, including your driving record, location, age, your vehicle and how you use it (business, personal only), typical mileage, credit-based insurance score, and other factors that can vary between U.S. states. The amount of insurance coverage you want to purchase also impacts your premium.
If you don’t want to pay for the roadside assistance endorsement, Infinity DriverClub is a free membership program with pay-per-use roadside assistance services, such as $83.99 for a tow.
Infinity Car Insurance Discounts
Infinity offers discounts to help lower premiums, although their availability varies based on your location. We found some discounts listed on the insurer’s site and confirmed others with customer service by phone, but it’s best to ask your agent what discounts you’re eligible for:
- Youth discounts: Good student (up to 20%)
- Loyalty discounts: Multi-car (up to 38%),
- Safety discounts: Safe driver (up to 25%), homeownership
- Payment discounts: Electronic payments (up to 5%), pay in full (15%), switch from another insurer (up to 15%)
- Other discounts: AAA (up to 5%)
Infinity Car Insurance Availability
Infinity’s auto policies are only available in California. Kemper acquired Infinity in 2018 and rebranded its car insurance in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and Texas to Kemper Auto.
If you live in California and have trouble finding insurance, Infinity may be a good option. It specializes in non-standard insurance, offering coverage for drivers with bad driving records, low credit scores, or SR-22 filings. If you don’t own a car but still drive, Infinity offers non-owner insurance.
How to Get an Infinity Car Insurance Quote
Infinity allows you to start your quote online and get rates using your basic personal and vehicle information. However, the online quotes don’t contain much detail, and you’ll need to speak with an agent to customize your coverage and apply any discounts. Complete your policy purchase by calling 800-INFINITY (800-463-4648) on weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT. Alternately, you can use Infinity’s chat function to get a quote or call an agent directly within business hours.
Infinity does not offer an option to self-identify as non-binary; drivers have to select either “male” or “female.”
How to File a Claim with Infinity
You can file a claim through Infinity’s mobile app, online, or by calling 800-334-1661. When you call, the adjuster will use your policy number to open a claim ticket. They’ll ask some basic questions and take a preliminary statement from you to determine what kind of claim you’re filing. You can then upload police reports and other necessary paperwork related to your claim online or through the mobile app.
You can get your car repaired at your favorite auto shop, or use one of Kemper Auto’s 1,200 preferred auto repair shops to fix damage to your vehicle. The advantage of using a shop from within the Kemper preferred network is that repairs are guaranteed and parts are covered by a lifetime warranty.
Infinity Customer Service
Infinity’s limited availability and smaller size mean it’s not ranked in national surveys like J.D. Power studies. The company has a mobile app where users can manage their policies, add a vehicle and driver, upload documents, pay bills, and file claims. Infinity’s website, app, and customer service phone and online chat services are all available in Spanish.
Financial Stability
AM Best, a rating agency that specializes in assessing the financial strength of insurance companies, gave Infinity an “A-.” While it’s not the highest rating, this rating indicates it has an excellent ability to meet ongoing insurance obligations, like paying out claims.
Other Insurance Provided by Infinity
Depending on your state, Infinity may offer these insurance products through various insurers, which may include its parent company, Kemper. During the quote process, you’ll be told who your insurer would be for:
- Motorcycle, ATV, RV, and boat insurance
- Business insurance
- Flood insurance
- Life insurance
Infinity also offers these types of insurance as Kemper products:
- Commercial auto insurance
- Home, condo, renters, and mobile home coverage
Compare Other Car Insurance Reviews
Even if you think you’ve found the right company for you, it’s essential to compare quotes because an Infinity policy won’t suit everyone. To help your search, here are three other car insurance providers with similar features:
- Farmers
- The General (for non-standard insurance)
- GEICO
- Infinity car insurance may be a good fit for people who live in California and want to be able to access the website, app, and customer service in Spanish.
- Infinity may also be good for those seeking non-standard insurance or who can’t find insurance coverage elsewhere.
- Infinity may not be a good fit if you want to customize your policy with lots of add-on insurance (endorsements).
- If you live in any state other than California, you’ll need to look elsewhere for coverage.
