How to Move Quicken Transactions

Moving Quicken Transactions: Start by Selecting Transactions to Move

Whether you want to move one transaction or several transactions, you can do so in Quicken with a few clicks of your mouse.

Notes:

  • You cannot move Quicken transactions in investment accounts because they do not have a register like all other Quicken accounts do.
  • Moving multiple transactions at once is supported in Quicken 2005 and later.

Select transactions to move to another account in Quicken two ways:

  1. To select one transaction in Quicken: click on the transaction once with your mouse.
  2. To select multiple transactions: click on the first transaction you wish to move in Quicken then hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard while you click on the remaining transactions. Release the Ctrl key when you are finished selecting transactions.

You know a transaction is selected in Quicken because it will be shaded after you select it.

Tell Quicken to Move the Transaction(s)

Either right-click one of the transaction(s) you want to move in Quicken or click on Edit, located after the Memo field and Enter. Now click on Move Transaction(s).

Select the Account to Move the Transaction To

Select the account to move the transaction to in Quicken.

The Move to Account selection tool will pop up in Quicken. Open a list of your accounts by clicking on the down arrow to the right of the box with an account name in it.

Select the Quicken account you want to move transaction to from the drop-down list. If you have many accounts, you will need to either use the up/down keyboard arrows to select the account, or you can use your mouse with the slider bar between to the right of the box containing the account names. Click OK to select the Quicken account to move your transaction to.

Your transactions are now removed from the account they were in and are recorded in the Quicken account you selected.
