Indeed.com is currently the #1 job site on the internet with over 140 million unique visitors each month. Indeed sweeps the internet and aggregates listings from job boards and company websites. Users can access more job listings with one search on this site than just about anywhere else online. Users are also encouraged to post their resumes, making it easy for employers to also search for candidates.

How to Start Searching for Jobs

When you visit Indeed, you will see a simple search engine where you can enter keywords to find job vacancies. Enter terms like job titles, company names, career fields, skills and certifications in the box labeled What and cities, zip codes or states in the box labeled Where. After entering keywords, click on Find Jobs to the right of the search boxes to generate a list of jobs matching the terms you entered.

Advanced Search Options

Job seekers who want a more focused list of vacancies can conduct an advanced search by clicking on Advanced Job Search below the Find Jobs button on the start page.

This tool enables users to sort jobs by exact phrases of keywords, company name, all jobs without a certain word, specific words in the job title, type of job (internship, full-time, temporary, part-time), salary, whether the job was posted on an employer site or a job board and/or the age of the job.

You can also filter by various distances from a zip code, city or state.

After filling in the advanced boxes, click on the Find Jobs button on the lower right of the page to find a list of jobs corresponding to your specifications.

How to Apply for Jobs on Indeed

After receiving your list of jobs, click on the underlined job title to see a detailed description of the job. For example:

When you click on the job title, a new window will open with the job listing page. You'll be able to view the job description, required qualifications, and job location. In order to apply, follow the instructions posted with the job description. You will typically need to register with that employer and either fill out an application and/or upload your resume and cover letter to apply.
