Every year in honor of Veterans Day, Golden Corral honors veterans and active military members with a free dinner buffet and beverage.

Over the past 15 years Golden Corral has honored veterans and military members with a free dinner buffet and raised over $11.5 million for Disabled American Veterans.

This is just one of the Veterans Day free meals that are available each year around Veterans Day. Some other restaurants that do this include Applebee's, IHOP, Olive Garden, Denny's, Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, T.G.I. Friday's, Texas Roadhouse, Red Robin, BJ's, LongHorn Steakhouse, O'Charley's, Starbucks, Smokey Bones, and Red Lobster.

Tip: Looking for extra freebies and discounts that you can snatch up this Veterans Day? Find a whole bunch in my list of Veterans Day Freebies and Discounts, like free zoo and national park admission, retail discounts, free haircuts, etc.

When Veterans Can Get Their Free Buffet Golden Corral

This year Golden Corral has their Military Appreciation Night on Monday, November 14, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

It's a good idea to call your local Golden Corral before you make the trip out for your free dinner, just to be sure that they're participating. I also have a list of common questions and answers about free Veterans Day meals that you might find helpful.

Who's Eligible for the Golden Corral Free Buffet

Some restaurants let eligible customers bring in their family or one guest to enjoy the meal too, but Golden Corral has limited their free Veterans Day meal to only include those who has ever served in the U.S. military.

This includes retirees, veterans, active duty, National Guard, and Reserves.

What You Need to Take With You to Golden Corral

No identification is needed to get the free Veterans Day meal at Golden Corral. But I do recommend that if you call your local Golden Corral ahead of time, that you verify whether or not identification is necessary, for the requirement may vary locally.

If there happens to be something you need to bring with you on Veterans Day, or if you want to bring ID just in case, some restaurants who require it will let you just come in wearing your uniform. Otherwise, you might be able to present any of the following:

  • U.S. Uniformed Services ID Card
  • U.S. Uniformed Service Retired ID Card
  • Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)
  • Veterans Organization Card (e.g. American Legion or VFW)
  • Photograph of yourself in uniform
  • DD214
  • Citation or commendation

Again, though, Golden Corral is said to not require any form of identification, so you shouldn't need to worry about coming prepared.

Golden Corral's Veterans Day Free Meal Restrictions

Golden Corral's free thank you dinner for Veterans Day is only served on November 14th, and there are no rain checks or gift cards that you can get to redeem on another day.

This Veterans Day free meal is also only valid for dine-in customers.

You are of course perfectly welcome to bring your family in with you to eat on Veterans Day, but they will need to pay for their buffet at regular price because as I described above, only certain people are permitted to eat for free on this particular day.

Golden Corral's Camp Corral

Golden Corral has another military freebie where children of military personnel can attend a week of camp for free.

The camp is called Camp Corral - just follow that link to see some videos of people at the camp, read some FAQs, find out the camp dates and locations for each specific camp, and see the kinds of activities the kids can get involved in.
