GEICO may request your Social Security number when you ask for a quote, although you can still get a quote without it. However, your price may become more accurate when you provide your SSN, since your credit-based insurance score can help you qualify for better rates.

How to File a Claim with GEICO

GEICO’s online claims center offers several options for assistance. You can also file a claim through the GEICO app, which lets you submit photos of the incident, or call GEICO’s main customer service number at 800-207-7847 and follow the prompts. You can check on your claim’s status online through GEICO Claims Express or through the GEICO app.

GEICO lets you choose where you want to get repairs done. If you choose GEICO Auto Repair Xpress, the company will guarantee the repairs for as long as you own your car.

Overall Satisfaction

GEICO gets top marks in almost every customer experience and satisfaction study by J.D. Power. Although it was #1 in any of the 11 regions in the J.D. Power 2021 U.S. Auto Insurance Study, it was ranked 3rd in one region and either 4th or 5th in six regions. It was also among the top five companies in all regions of the U.S. GEICO’s overall average score of 828 across all regions puts it 12 points ahead of the industry average of 816.

Auto Claims

The company ranked #8 out of 18 on the J.D. Power 2021 Auto Claims Satisfaction Study, with a customer satisfaction score of about average. While this ranking is an improvement compared to its 12th place score in 2020, it is still significantly lower than the #3 ranking GEICO earned in the 2019 claims study.

Digital Service and Shopping Experience

Customer service is available 24/7 through GEICO’s call center, or you can visit local agents. You can access your policy information through an online account, via the GEICO app, or through a virtual assistant on mobile. In 2021, GEICO was ranked #1 in the customer service segment on the J.D. Power U.S. Insurance Digital Experience Study for the fourth consecutive year. However, in the same study, GEICO’s digital shopping experience earned it 14th place on a list of 22 insurers with a score below the industry average.
