Free DVD Ripper Programs

A List of the Best DVD Ripper Software Tools

A DVD ripper is a program that converts a DVD or BD (Blu-ray) movie into a file, helpful when you want to back up a movie for safe keeping or convert a disc to a file for playing on your phone or tablet.

While some DVD rippers will cost you anywhere from $50 to $100 USD, some of the most highly rated and feature-rich rippers are completely free.

Below is an alphabetical list of the best free DVD ripper programs available. I've used all of these programs at one time or another but my favorites are MakeMKV, DVD Shrink, and HandBrake. However, all of these DVD rippers do a great job at what they do - for no cost at all!

BDlot DVD ISO Master is really easy to use. Just choose a source folder or disc, select where the DVD should be saved, and then start ripping.

A DVD ripped with BDlot DVD ISO Master is saved as an ISO image only, as there aren't any additional options or advanced features that let you select a different file format.

BDlot DVD ISO Master also functions as an ISO burner and mounter.

Note: The official BDlot download page doesn't seem to be a reliable source for this program thanks to the fact that it's often down, but you can still grab a copy of BDlot DVD ISO Master from MajorGeeks or Softpedia. More

There are too many advanced features to list here, but some include video filtering, custom subtitles, and video previewing. You can choose to rip any specific title from the source disc as well as certain chapters, a custom crop and quality, and specific audio tracks.

Though there are many custom features, it's still very easy to use if you choose not to delve into the advanced settings. More
