Esurance DriveSense Program Features
Through the Esurance DriveSense Program, auto insurance customers are able to save as much as 30% on policy premiums by allowing the company to monitor driving habits through an installed telematics device in the vehicle’s onboard diagnostics (OBD-II) port. This port is located under the dashboard right in front of the driver’s seat.
The DriveSense Program is available to customers in these states: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
To sign up for DriveSense, existing customers can call 1-800-ESURANCE (1-800-378-7262) to enroll. You will receive a 10% discount just for enrolling. Your policy premium can be reduced up to 30% based on your safe driving habits, but never increased based on data collected from the telematics device installed in your vehicle. The program is available to policy holders with vehicles that are 1996-year models or later, non-hybrid and non-electric vehicles.
If you have multiple drivers on your policy, you can enroll them all in the DriveSense program which could increase your savings. After your first policy term enrolled in the DriveSense program, you can earn a discount every term, depending on how safe your driving is during the policy period.

You can view your driving information on your personalized website on DriveSense mobile. Esurance plans to make DriveSense available in other states soon.You can download the DriveSense mobile app in the App Store or Play Store. You keep the device installed in any enrolled vehicles for one full policy term. If you cancel your policy or un-enroll in DriveSense, Esurance will send you a prepaid mailing label to return the device. You will be charged a $100 non-return fee if you do not return the device.
You can only lose the discount if you stop using or uninstall the DriveSense app. To receive the discount, you must log at least 50 trips each policy term. If you get a new phone, simply install the app on your phone by downloading with Google Play Store or from the App Store. You can use your existing login to launch the app on your new phone.
Privacy of Personal Data
In the terms and conditions policy language regarding DriveSense, Esurance states, “You acknowledge that the Device will track driving activity and related information in the vehicle in which it is installed. This driving data will be collected and transmitted via cellular signal to a third party, who will then forward the driving data to Esurance. You consent to the collection and transmission of your driving data as set forth herein.”
