Erie Insurance Group is the 13th largest automobile insurance carrier in the United States and the 19th largest property and casualty insurance company in the United States. It offers auto, homeowners, life, property and liability and business insurance as well as retirement products. It is possible that you may not have heard of Erie auto insurance. Why? The company was founded in by H.O. Hirt in 1925 with its headquarters in Erie, Pennsylvania. Mr. Hirt is known for having a plaque in his office simply inscribed with the word think. Features and Benefits

  • Transportation Expenses – If you have an Erie Insurance auto policy with comprehensive and collision coverage your transportation expenses immediately following an accident are covered. This includes auto rental fees, bus fees and taxi fares. Specific limits to coverage vary by state.
     
  • Additional Payments – The additional payments features is available to policyholders with physical damage coverage. This pays up to $75 per person for travel costs after an accident and up to $350 for personal property loss. It will also pay $50 if you have to call a locksmith service. This option does not apply in North Carolina.
     
  • Windshield Repair Deductible Waive – If you choose to have your windshield repaired rather than replace, Erie Insurance will waive the comprehensive deductible.
     
  • Accident with Another Erie Insurance Customer – If you are involved in an accident with another Erie Insurance customer, the company will waive the collision deductible.
