Photos of homes in East Sacramento

Photo gallery of unique homes in East Sacramento, from its high-end price ranges of homes in McKinley Park and the Fabulous 40s to the relatively more modest homes priced at half a million.

East Sacramento's boundaries run from Sacramento State University and Elvas on the east to Alhambra on the west; Folsom Boulevard to the south and the American River to the north. Development in East Sacramento began in the 1890s, when the Sacramento Electric Power and Light Company laid streetcar lines. It was annexed to the city of Sacramento in 1911, and one of the first developments, the exclusive Fabulous 40s, broke ground in 1914.

Today, East Sacramento is a vibrant community, comprised of residents from all walks of life. It boasts an abundance of parks such as McKinley Park and East Portal Park, is home to Mercy Hospital and East Lawn Memorial, and it offers an easy commute to downtown.

This is perhaps the most famous Fabulous 40s' home in East Sacramento -- the former home of President Ronald Reagan. Reagan lived in the Fab 40s during most of his terms as governor of California. This 1945 home has six bedrooms and four baths. Reagan rented this home after moving out of the Governor's Mansion -- which Nancy Reagan declared a fire trap -- on 16th & H Street in April of 1967; he and Mrs. Reagan lived at 1341 45th until 1975.

It is two-stories, comprising 12 rooms (not counting the baths), has a fireplace, and is 7108 square feet, situated on more than half an acre. It also has a pool and Jacuzzi.

This home last sold in May of 2000 at $1,765,000.
