Bottom Line:

CreditNerds.com requires you to print and mail your own dispute letters, so we think you’d be better off getting free credit repair advice from a consumer credit counseling agency and repairing your credit on your own instead of using this company.

CreditNerds.com offers two credit repair plans that come at a real cost starting at $39.99 per month (paid to a third-party credit monitoring company). Quite different from many of the other credit repair companies we reviewed, if you go with CreditNerds.com, you’ll be required to print and mail any credit dispute letters the company prepares on your behalf. This makes the service sort of a hybrid between a credit repair service and a do-it-yourself plan.

While CreditNerds.com is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and doesn’t have a BBB rating. It also doesn’t have any complaints. Some of the few customer reviews we could find for CreditNerds.com were from Facebook, which were generally great. However, we also saw mixed reviews on Google. These were just some of the factors we considered in our CreditNerds.com review.

Company Overview: Relatively Young Company

CreditNerds.com is a privately held company founded in 2011 with its headquarters in Paragould, Arkansas. With about a decade of business operations, CreditNerds.com is relatively young compared to some of the other credit repair companies we’ve reviewed.

CreditNerds.com is also different from many of the other credit repair companies because its customers are required to purchase a third-party credit monitoring plan. After it has your credit reports in-hand, CreditNerds.com will help you figure out what items can be repaired and will prepare dispute letters for you to print and mail. As noted, this is a very different approach to credit repair from all the other companies we reviewed.

Available Services: Coaching and Do-It-Yourself Assistance

CreditNerds.com offers two credit repair packages. With the “free” credit repair package, the company will review your credit reports and let you know which items you might be able to have removed. It will also prepare dispute letters for you to print and mail to the three major credit bureaus. Also, CreditNerds.com offers a higher-level package that includes a credit audit of all the items affecting your credit score. With the credit audit plan, you’ll also have to print and mail any dispute letters to the credit bureaus, just like the “free” plan. Plus, CreditNerds.com will help educate you on what your credit score means and what you can do to improve it.

The key thing to know about CreditNerds.com is, with either of its plans, you’ll be required to purchase monthly credit monitoring from CreditNerds.com’s third-party partner. This credit monitoring service costs around $39.99 a month on top of any fees you’re paying to CreditNerds.com. While you’re not paying this credit monitoring fee directly to CreditNerds.com, you need to include it in your evaluation of this credit repair provider. In conclusion, the “free” plan offered by CreditNerds.com actually comes at a cost.

OUR EXPERT MEGAN SAYS

You’re required to purchase monthly credit monitoring from its preferred third-party partner.

“Free” Credit Repair Plan

The “free” plan offered by CreditNerds.com requires you to buy monthly credit monitoring from the company’s preferred third-party partner at a cost of approximately $39.99 a month. CreditNerds.com will evaluate your credit to help you identify which items you might be able to repair and will prepare dispute letters for you to print and send to the credit bureaus. The key features included in the CreditNerds.com’s free plan are:

  • Review of your credit report to identify which items could potentially be removed
  • Preparation of dispute letters for you to send to the three credit bureaus
  • Monthly credit monitoring provided by a third-party to whom you’ll pay a fee

Credit Audit Plan

As with the “free” plan, CreditNerds.com requires you to buy monthly credit monitoring from the company’s preferred third-party partner at a cost of approximately $39.99 a month. This is in addition to the one-time fee of $97 you’ll pay to CreditNerds.com to receive its Credit Audit. With this plan, CreditNerds.com will evaluate your credit to help you identify which items you might be able to repair and will prepare dispute letters for you to print and mail. It will also walk you through what your credit score means and the steps you can take to improve it. The key features included in the CreditNerds.com’s Credit Audit plan are:

  • Coaching on what your credit score means and how you can improve it
  • Review of your credit report to identify which items could potentially be removed
  • Preparation of dispute letters for you to send to the three credit bureaus
  • Monthly credit monitoring provided by a third-party to whom you’ll pay a fee

Optional Add-Ons: Personal, Business, and Real Estate Funding

CreditNerds.com is different from many of the other credit repair companies we reviewed. One of the company’s key products is funding for your personal, business, and commercial real estate needs. In essence, CreditNerds.com offers a marketplace that can be used to help you find the business funding you need.

Personal and Business Funding

To get personal or business funding, CreditNerds.com requires you to complete an online assessment of your needs. The company will then work to match you with the funding you need. There are lots of good lenders out there, including online lenders, so we recommend shopping around before considering the service offered by CreditNerds.com.

Commercial Real Estate Funding

This section of CreditNerds.com’s website isn’t fully built out, with placeholder language that seems pretty unprofessional. That said, while the company might want to offer you real estate funding, we recommend opting for a real estate lender that’s better established and that specializes in the type of commercial real estate loan you need.

Customer Service: Hours of Operation Aren’t Published

Unlike many other credit repair companies we reviewed, CreditNerds.com doesn’t publish its hours of operation on its website. You can reach the company by phone or email or you can apply for services via an online application. The ability to apply online is a nice touch that’s not offered by all of the competition.

Reputation: Limited Information Is Available

Not only is CreditNerds.com not accredited by the BBB, but it also doesn’t have a BBB rating. This is even though the BBB has tracked the company since 2011. Even so, there also haven’t been any complaints reported to the BBB. Plus, a review of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB’s) consumer complaint database didn’t uncover any complaints during the most recent three-year period.

Customer Satisfaction: Available Reviews Are Great

CreditNerds.com doesn't have any customer reviews submitted to the BBB. However we did se reviews on Google Reviews. It currently has mixed reviews of 3.8/5 on Google. We also found some reviews on the company’s Facebook page. Overall, the reviewers ranked CreditNerds.com a great 4.6 out of 5 stars, with many reviewers noting excellent customer service.

Cost: “Free” Doesn’t Actually Mean Free

Although the basic credit repair plan offered by CreditNerds.com is technically free, you’re required to purchase a monthly credit monitoring account from the company’s third-party partner with both plans. According to CreditNerds.com, the premier credit monitoring plan offered by its third-party partner comes with a monthly cost of $39.99. This is a real fee you’re required to pay and needs to be included in your cost evaluation.

CreditNerds.com will evaluate your credit, help you figure out what can be repaired, and prepare dispute letters for you. However, you’ll be required to do some of the work on your own, such as actually mailing the letters to the credit bureaus. With this in mind, it might be a better idea for you to discuss your credit situation for free with a credit counselor and consider repairing your credit on your own. There are also lots of other credit monitoring services out there, some of which are truly free.

Some credit monitoring services are truly free, so it's worth shopping around.

The following table summarizes the costs CreditNerds.com charges for each plan:

Plan One-Time Fee Monthly Fee
“Free” Credit Repair Plan $0 $39.99*
Credit Audit Plan $97 $39.99*

*Cost of the third-party credit monitoring plan you’re required to purchase.

OUR EXPERT MEGAN SAYS

The "free" plan offered by CreditNerds.com actually comes at a cost.

The Competition: CreditNerds.com vs. The Credit Pros

One of the competitors to CreditNerds.com is The Credit Pros. Similar to CreditNerds.com, The Credit Pros offers credit monitoring with all of its plans. Even though the lowest-cost plan offered by The Credit Pros only includes credit monitoring at a cost of $19.99 per month, it is included in our comparison. This is because you could potentially pair this plan from The Credit Pros with do-it-yourself credit repair tools after taking advantage of The Credit Pros’ free credit consultation—and this would get you basically the same result at a real cost savings. Although CreditNerds.com will prepare credit dispute letters for you, you’re still required to print and mail them, meaning it’s close to a do-it-yourself credit repair plan. That said, we believe you’ll get a better overall value from The Credit Pros than you will from CreditNerds.com.

  CreditNerd.com The Credit Pros
Monthly Price $39.99* $19 to $149
One-Time Fees $0 to $97 $19 to $149
Number of Plans Two Four**
BBB Accredited Business No Yes
BBB Rating Not Rated A
BBB Customer Reviews No Reviews 2.96/5

*CreditNerds.com offers a “free” credit plan, but you’re required to purchase a credit monitoring plan from its preferred third-party partner. We’ve included the cost of the credit monitoring plan in this comparison.

**The base level plan offered by The Credit Pros offers credit monitoring only. Still, it is included since you could also potentially pair this with a do-it-yourself credit repair service kind of like what you’re getting from CreditNerds.com.

Final Verdict: Free Isn’t Always Free

While CreditNerds.com doesn’t directly charge you a monthly fee for either of its plans, you’re required to purchase monthly credit monitoring from its preferred third-party partner. This means its free plan isn’t really free when you consider these indirect costs. Plus, CreditNerds.com will simply create dispute letters for you to print and mail. If you’re going to print and mail the letters anyway, we think you’d be better off getting free credit repair advice from a consumer credit counseling agency and creating any credit dispute letters on your own.
