Credit Sesame is a free credit score website that will give you a free credit score, pulled from Experian, in a few minutes time. You don't have to provide a credit card or sign up for a free trial to get your Credit Sesame free credit score.

In addition to to providing free credit scores, Credit Sesame also offers free credit monitoring, free home value estimates, and free financial goal-setting tools.

Credit Sesame makes their money when a person takes out a loan through a bank featured on their website. You do not need to do this to get your free credit score.

How to Get Your Free Credit Score at Credit Sesame

Visit Credit Sesame and click on Get Your Free Credit Score. You'll need to first set up an account with your email and a password.

Next, you'll fill out your name, address, and social security number. You'll then be asked a few questions to verify your identity. These questions and answers are pulled from the information on your credit report.

You'll then be able to set some financial goals for yourself. After that, you're ready to view your free credit score.

Reading Your Credit Sesame Free Credit Score

Credit Sesame divides the information they give you into three sections, My Credit, My Debt, and My Assets (if applicable).

My Credit will tell you your credit score and credit usage.

You can compare your credit score to others who have requested one through Credit Sesame.

The My Debt section shows your payments, balances, and Debt to Income ratio. The My Assets section shows gives you an estimate of your home value.

You'll get your credit score updated monthly at Credit Sesame and they'll track the changes.

They do not provide full credit report, but you can request a free credit report quite easily.

Your Privacy and Credit Sesame

Credit Sesame has an in-depth privacy policy about what information they collect from you and what they do to protect that information. They are verified by TRUSTe.

Credit Sesame's Effect On Your Credit Score

Requesting a free credit score through Credit Sesame is considered a soft inquiry and will not affect your credit score unless you apply for one of the loans they offer.

My Thoughts on Credit Sesame

I love that Credit Sesame has a feature where I can set up alerts to get emails on changes to my credit score and home estimate. This is a great tool and I love that I have complete control over when I get an email from them.

Credit Sesame says that it will only take you 90 seconds to request your free credit score. I kept track of the time as I went through the process and it took me just shy of 5 minutes. The website was a little slow and I had some extra questions to verify my identify because I got one of the first ones wrong. I think the 90 second claim may be pushing it, but I didn't mind spending 5 minutes to get an important piece of financial information.

I didn't mind the ads for credit cards and bank loans that littered by free credit score but I did get annoyed by the constant pop-ups I got trying to get me to sign up for their premium membership, which of course costs money.
