If a business associate has recently provided assistance, a client has recommended your services or a potential employer has met with you for an interview, then you should consider sending them a business thank you email message. With the sample and tips below, learn how to craft a top notch thank you letter that will not only show your gratitude but make a good impression as well.

A Thank You Email Example

The sample below is addressed to Suzanne, a business contact who did a great job helping Mary Jones (both women are fictional) plan an annual conference.

To show her appreciation, Mary sent Suzanne a virtual thank you note.

Subject line: Annual Conference

Dear Suzanne,

Thank you very much for all of your assistance with planning our annual conference. Your expertise in handling the logistics, the meeting arrangements, the multimedia presentations, coordinating travel and in organizing the event were greatly appreciated.

I really appreciate your help and I am sure we will be contacting you for your assistance with next year's conference.

In the interim, if I can provide you with a recommendation or if there is anything else I can do to assist, please don't hesitate to ask.

Best Regards,

Mary Jones

In the note, Mary did not simply thank Suzanne, she listed all of the ways Suzanne had specifically been helpful. She also offered to return the favor, which revealed that she was not sending out a generic thank you note and that her words of gratitude weren't empty.

Instead, Mary showed that she would be willing to act should Suzanne need her help one day.
