The Biden Bonus: How New Stimulus Checks Would Stack Up

Number of the Day: The most relevant or interesting figure in personal finance

$2,229

That's how much would come in the next stimulus check, on average—more than two and a half times the average payment in the last round, according to estimates by the Tax Foundation.

If the latest Democratic proposal for pandemic relief materializes, not only would taxpayers receive up to $1,400 each (or $2,800 to couples who are married and file their taxes jointly) but the payments would include up to $1,400 each per dependent, more than twice what either of the last two rounds of stimulus provided for dependents.

The Tax Foundation, a nonprofit tax policy researcher, estimates that would make the average payment (whether it be single or joint filers) $2,229—more than twice the $872 average in the second round and well over the $1,523 average received from the first.
