Amica Home Insurance Policy
Amica offers the typical HO-3 policy, along with a more comprehensive option. The Standard policy offers:
- Dwelling coverage
- Other structures
- Personal property
- Valuable items
- Loss of use
- Liability coverage
- Medical payments
Amica’s Platinum Choice Home plan offers the same protection as the Standard plan, but with increased limits and additional coverage options included that are usually only available by adding on endorsements, such as protection for business property, computers, credit cards, and water backup.
Depending on your state, you may be able to augment your Standard policy with these optional additional or expanded coverages, which are also called home insurance endorsements. These may include, among others:
- Dwelling replacement: Increased coverage by 30%
- Personal property: Replacement cost coverage
- Scheduled personal property/valuable items coverage
- Identity fraud expense coverage
- Home business coverage
Amica’s Cost for a Standard Policy
Homeowners insurance costs can be influenced by a variety of common and more surprising factors, including:
- Your credit history, where legally allowed
- Your location
- Home security system
- Your claims history
- The distance between your house and a fire hydrant
- Age of home, plumbing, electrical and heating
- Home rebuilding costs
- Your policy’s limits and deductibles
- Any extras or endorsements you might request
- Any discounts you qualify for
Amica offers the same coverage through two types of policies: dividend and non-dividend. Dividend policies are available in most states and generally cost more up front than regular policies, but may return up to 20% of your premium at the end of the year. Dividends aren’t guaranteed and the cost difference depends on your location, but it might be worth comparing quotes to see whether a dividend policy is right for you.
Other Amica Property Insurance Policies
Amica doesn’t offer quite as many property insurance options as other insurers—for example, it doesn’t offer landlord insurance. But depending on your state, you may be able to sign up for:
- Condo insurance
- Renters insurance
- Flood insurance
- Earthquake insurance
Amica Home Insurance Discounts
Amica extends a handful of standard discounts to reduce your premium, although dividends may vary by state or policyholder.
- Home: Alarm system discount, automatic detection devices discount, new or remodeled home credit
- Policy: Autopay discount, claims-free discount, electronic billing, loyalty discount, multi-line discount (up to 30%)
Amica Home Insurance Availability
Amica offers homeowners insurance in all states, except Alaska and Hawaii.
How to Get a Amica Homeowners Insurance Quote
Amica offers three ways to request a quote:
- By phone: 800-242-6422
- Online: Amica.com
- Using the Amica app for Apple and Android devices
When contacting Amica for a quote, you’ll need to have:
- Property address
- Date the home was built
- Home’s construction type, such as wood frame or masonry
- Home’s proximity to a fire station and fire hydrant
If you’re getting quotes with a company that uses credit ratings to obtain your insurance rate, always provide the information for both spouses. Some companies will use the rate of the person with the best credit score, so this strategy will save you money.
How to File a Claim with Amica
You can file an Amica home insurance claim online, through the Amica app, or by phone at 800-242-6422. Before filing a claim for stolen property, contact the police and file a report.
Following a loss, file a claim as soon as possible. After filing a claim, contact a contractor to obtain an estimate of repair costs. A claim handler will contact you to inform you if the process will also require an adjuster’s visit.
The payment process varies according to the complexity of the loss. For minor claims, Amica often makes payment after confirming your coverage, inspecting the property, and estimating costs.

AM Best’s ratings are a good indication of financial stability, which is important to customers considering whether a company will be able to pay its claims. It rates companies on a scale of A++ to D. AM Best gives Amica Mutual an A+ (Superior) rating, which means the carrier has a superior ability to pay its claims.

Compare Other Home Insurance Reviews
When shopping for home insurance, it’s important to shop around to find the best fit. Look for a carrier that can provide the best combination of coverages, discounts and price. If Amica isn’t the right insurer for you, consider one of these highly rated carriers:
- USAA (if you have a military background or family connection)
- State Farm
You can’t beat Amica’s commitment to quality home insurance coverage and customer support. Its high consumer rankings and excellent financial rating make it a great choice for any homeowner shopping for sound coverage. And for folks who need a little more coverage, Amica’s Platinum Choice Home package provides added protection.
Although Amica makes the grade with excellent coverages, it doesn’t offer the personal attention that only a dedicated local agent can provide. And if you own a home in Alaska or Hawaii, you’ll have to keep searching, because Amica doesn’t offer homeowners policies there.
