Allstate Home Insurance Availability

Allstate homeowners insurance is available in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. However, not all states allow an online quote.

How to Get an Allstate Home Insurance Quote

The easiest way to get a quote is through Allstate’s online quote generator, a user-friendly tool that allows you to get a quote in minutes. You can also search on the website for a nearby Allstate agent if you prefer to call or visit an agent to request a quote.

If you’re applying for insurance with a spouse or domestic partner, you will also need to provide their personal information and you may need to provide their insurance history, as well. Many companies use credit ratings to determine your home insurance rate, and will use the higher credit score between the two spouses to generate the insurance quote, which could save you money.

How to File a Claim with Allstate

Allstate offers several methods for filing claims:

  • Customers may wish to reach out to their insurance agent directly. However, your agent may only be available during normal business hours.
  • Call 1-800-ALLSTATE (1-800-255-7828) to file and track claims over the phone. This phone line, which is available 24/7, makes it easy to remember how to file a claim even if you aren’t at home, don’t have your agent’s contact information, or can’t access your phone or computer.
  • Use your online account or the mobile app.

When filing your claim, provide your claims representative with as much information as you can about the incident that prompted the claim. In addition, you may need some proof of ownership information regarding your possessions, especially if you are filing a claim because of theft. If you are the victim of theft, you will need to file a police report to file a claim.

Even if you don’t have all of the information available right away, Allstate recommends that you call to report the claim anyway, since your claims representative can help you.

J.D. Power 2021 Property Claims Satisfaction Study #9 out of 20 insurers
J.D. Power 2021 U.S. Insurance Digital Experience Study
Service: #5 out of 20 insurers Shopping: #8 out of 23 insurers

Allstate enjoys a good reputation for customer service, which is supported by J.D. Power’s recent studies. The 2021 J.D. Power Home Insurance Study surveyed homeowners for customer satisfaction based upon price, interactions, policy information and offerings, the billing process, and the claims experience. Based on a 1,000 point scale for which the average was 823, Allstate received 829 points. When stacked against 22 insurers, it came in tenth place.

The 2021 J.D. Power Property Claims Satisfaction Survey surveyed customers for customer satisfaction with their property claims experience based on settlement, claim servicing, reporting a loss (first notice of loss), and the estimation and repair processes. Allstate scored 882 points out of 1,000, just below the industry average of 883. It came in at #9 out of 20 insurers.

In the J.D. Power 2021 U.S. Insurance Digital Experience Study, Allstate ranked #5 out of 20 for service, which measures consumer satisfaction in carrying out policy-servicing tasks using the insurer’s digital tools. But in the same study, Allstate ranked #8 out of 23 for online shopping, so perhaps users didn’t love the shopping experience as much as the typical tools.

Starting with its online quote generator—which can give most homeowners a quote within minutes—Allstate’s online and digital tools really shine. Not only is the Allstate website intuitive and easy to use, but the mobile app allows policyholders to easily pay bills, file claims, view documents, and even create inventories to make future claims a snap. That’s probably why Allstate fared well in a survey of insurers’ web and mobile experiences.

Financial Stability

Insurance companies must be able to assure their customers that they are financially stable, since consumers need to trust that their insurer will be there to pay any future claims. AM Best rates insurers on financial strength, giving a Financial Strength Rating represented by a letter. Allstate enjoys an AM Best rating of A+ (Superior), which is only one step down from Best’s highest rating of A++. That’s a good indicator that the company is and should continue to be financially stable.

Allstate offers a great deal more than just homeowners insurance. Its other insurance offerings include:
