AFC Home Club provides home warranty plans for homeowners and real estate professionals that protect against unexpected home repair costs. The company provides all of its services in-house, meaning it does not contract sales or claims services to outside vendors.

We reviewed the company based on the types of plans, various plan options, price, exclusions, payout caps, and more. Read on to see if AFC Home Club is the best warranty company for your home repair needs.

Company Overview

AFC Home Club was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Marietta, Georgia. It offers coverage throughout the United States to homeowners and real estate professionals. It also offers its club members a number of perks including membership rates on pet benefits, vision and dental discounts, and identity theft protection.

One of the most impressive things about AFC is its "lifetime of plan" guarantee for all repairs. If you have an active service agreement, the work completed will be guaranteed for the entire life of the contract (up to three years).

Homeowner Plans

Homeowner warranty plans can protect your budget against unexpected repairs due to normal wear and tear on appliances or household systems. AFC offers four homeowner plans include the Platinum Plan, Gold Plan, Silver Plan, and the Systems Plan, which only covers major home systems.

Here's a breakdown of the items covered with each plan.

Homeowner Plan Pricing

Homeowner plans through AFC Home Club are available for one-year and three-year periods paid either monthly or annually. Homeowners can purchase AFC Home Club protection any time after they purchase a home, but there is a 30-day waiting period for coverage to begin.

Here's the average plan price by state.

Plan California Texas  Florida New York
Platinum $838 $675 $825 $825
Gold $775 $623 $778 $758
Silver $588 $465 $555 $555
Systems N/A $544 $656 $656

Your costs will depend on plan choice, service fee choice, address, and if you choose a one- or three-year plan. Also, add-ons will of course raise your cost. AFC's trade call fees (TCF) range between $75, $100, and $125. This fee is like a deductible; it's the amount you pay when making a service call for a repair technician to come to examine the problem. Plan pricing is contingent on which of the three TCF options you choose.

Choosing the highest trade service fee option will lower your monthly contract fee but leave you responsible for more when you do file a claim.

AFC Home Club Membership Benefits

Unlike most other home warranty companies, AFC gives warranty holders Home Club membership benefits. These perks help to keep your home operating in tip-top shape while managing your budget and financial health.

Repair Time

AFC says it will connect you with a licensed service technician within 24 to 48 business hours after you file a claim, but our research found response times were closer to 72 hours on average, a bit slow compared to other home warranty providers.

The company will email, text, or phone you the technician’s contact information so you can contact them to schedule service. AFC contacts you once the service call is completed. Then, only upon your satisfaction, will AFC pay the technician.

If you have a service contractor you prefer who is available to begin work right away, AFC will allow it as long as you let the claims representative know when reporting a claim. Your chosen contractor will need to call AFC for authorization prior to completing any repairs. No reimbursement is made to the repair technician until he has submitted a diagnosis, gets the required authorization, and AFC gets your approval of the work completed.

The contract does outline a process for emergency repairs. However, it doesn't sound too much faster than the regular route.

Customer Service/Claims

You can contact AFC 24/7 to submit a claim by calling 770-973-2400 or you may submit your claim online. If you would like to call to obtain a quote, the sales number is 844-211-3786.

Final Verdict

AFC Home Club offers affordable home warranty options to fit within most budgets and allows you to choose your own licensed contractor for repairs. We really like the guarantee on repairs for the lifetime of the plan for up to three years. There are also some membership perks—including discounts on home security systems, primary care visits, maintenance parts and supplies, identity theft protection, and more—which make it a suitable choice for the average homeowner.

However, AFC only covers up to 18 home components and systems without add-ons. We also think their emergency service procedure is slow. If you have a large home with many sophisticated home systems, you'll need a home warranty provider that offers more coverage options.
