AAA

For nearly 120 years, motorists have relied on AAA to come to the rescue when they break down on the road. Over the years, AAA has expanded its services and products to include auto and home insurance. To qualify for a AAA homeowners insurance policy, you must be a AAA auto club member.

AAA isn’t a single organization; it’s actually a group of affiliated motor clubs that service specific areas and offer insurance through their own agencies. Depending on your location, AAA may offer either AAA-affiliated insurance policies, or policies through an unaffiliated insurer. Three of the biggest groups are the Automobile Club Group, Auto Club of Southern California Insurance Group, and CSAA Insurance Group. If you live in an area covered by one of these auto clubs (see “AAA Home Insurance Availability” section), here’s a closer look at the home insurance coverage you may be offered.

How to Get a AAA Homeowners Insurance Quote

To get started, enter your ZIP code at www.AAA.com. The site will automatically redirect you to the appropriate AAA club’s homepage, where you can find contact information at the bottom of the page. The quote process varies among AAA insurance groups. Automobile Club Group offers online quotes, but the other two groups didn’t, in our experience. If you use Automobile Club Group’s online quote app, you’ll be asked numerous questions about your home, its age and construction, and its systems and safety devices.

AAA also requests personal information like your age, gender, marital status, and insurance history. After you complete the questionnaire, the application will generate a quote that details each coverage’s cost and deductibles.

All three AAA insurance groups offer quotes over the phone. However, the number you’ll need to call depends on the AAA club that provides products and services in your area. When you call, a AAA agent will guide you through a series of questions and produce a quote while you’re on the phone. You can also request that the agent send a written quote to your email address.

How to File a Claim with AAA

AAA accepts insurance claims over the phone but doesn’t operate a centralized claims center. To file a claim, navigate to www.AAA.com and enter your ZIP code. After the site redirects you to your AAA club, click on the “Contact Us” link to find your club’s claims phone number.

AAA’s mobile app, available for Android and Apple devices, is loaded with useful features that will help you on the road, but it provides little functionality for home insurance policyholders. The app enables you to access your membership information, search for AAA member discounts, get directions, find nearby gas stations, and request roadside assistance.

Financial Stability

An insurer’s financial rating is an indicator of its ability to pay your auto insurance claim. According to AM Best, the worldwide leader in financial ratings in the insurance industry, most of AAA’s underwriting companies have A- and higher financial stability ratings.
